LOCAL RIVER CLUB FISHING DAY

Sunday, March 23rd

Another chance to join with fellow club members for a late-season day on the river, and a get-together at the Moutere Tavern afterwards.

This is not specifically a ‘mentoring day’, but an ‘encouragement’ for club members to seek out each other’s company and enjoy a fun day out on the water.

The Motueka, Riuwaka and Wangapeka rivers are all currently producing nice fish on the dry fly and nymph. As water temperatures continue to cool, there is a bit more mayfly activity, and the Passionvine Hoppers should still have the trout popping.

FYI: Unless we get some rain, the rivers are all currently very low and slippery … in short, the wading and fishing won’t be super-easy. To find good fishing, anglers will need to be capable waders, able to wade well enough to poke into the less accessible spots that the trout have currently retreated to. The wading and fishing may prove to be a bit testing, but there are still good numbers of fat trout ready to be caught.

If you haven’t got a buddy (or two) to fish with, contact TONY ENTWISTLE, and Tony will do his best to team you up with other club members.

Experienced club members who are happy to help assist less-experienced members, please give TONY a call or TXT to 0274732483, or email enty10@gmail.com ,

and let him know you are available to help another angler or two.

Those anglers who need help ‘getting teamed-up’, will meet first at the Nelson-Marlborough Fish & Game Rooms in Champion Rd at 0800 on the 23rd March, before heading away fishing.

Anglers who have formed their own teams, should head out to the river of their choice … and crack into it! It would be helpful to Tony though, to let him know who might be going.

After fishing, we’ll plan to meet up at the Moutere Tavern at 1630 for a debrief and refreshments.

Anglers sharing a ride to the river will help the driver with fuel costs.
